Here are some photos of the apartment and the street outside.

My room has a giant pole sticking up from the floor. I have no idea what it goes to.

I love the ceilings.

The living room and kitchen.

The kitchen. I wish there was more counter space.

Our skylight window thing that separates the kitchen and living room.

My room is on the back of the house and I have access to the fire escape. These are my plants. I’m hoping to grow some nice stuff there.

Update

A lot has happened since my last update. We still don’t have internet so I am making this post from my phone and won’t be able to add any cool pictures yet.

The house is almost fully unpacked but we are going to need additional furniture for storage. We still don’t have gas so we can only cook food with the crockpot, George Foreman, and toaster oven but I still managed to make a great meal for dinner tonight. We are lucky that there is a great supermarket right on the corner along with other stores so we don’t have to go far to get things.

I had some free time today and rode my bike for the first time since I got here. I rode over the Williamsburg Bridge into Manhattan. I got lost going there but I managed to find it. After crossing the bridge I turned back to head home for dinner. I got lost on the way home as well and then the chain on my bike broke. Luckily I was only a block from the house and not 4 miles away. I plan to go back out tomorrow and explore some more.

I love living here so far and will update again soon with pictures.

Day 2

Today was less eventful. We spend the whole day driving. We stopped in Frederick, MD and should only be about 5 hours away. We are meeting our new landlord at 2 p.m. so we have to get an early start in the morning. I’ve gotten pretty good at driving the big rig so I should be ready to drive it in the city.

First Day on the Road

We picked up the Uhaul truck which was the last one they had available. It was the monster big rig 26′ truck. It has been years since I’ve driven a car more than a couple miles so driving this thing 1200 miles made me a bit nervous.

We finished loading Kevin and Brenna’s stuff and cats and said goodbye to our families.

We all lost our cell phone chargers so the two vehicles we are took for the trip immediately got separated as soon as we pulled out onto the road and we had to known place to meet back up.

We finally met up at my place in Tallahassee and got cheap chargers to charge our phones and loaded up my stuff and cat. It was hot and we took a break to eat Taco Bell.

We drove for several hours and made it to Walterboro, South Carolina. Since we got a late start we still have about 12-13 hours to go.

We stopped at a hotel that allowed pets and let the three cats loose in the room. There is still a bit of hissing but everyone should be alright. We ordered delivery pizza and called it a night.
